Plastics and Health, What you Need To Know

Plastics and Health, What you Need To Know In-Person

Plastics surround us. Plastics themselves – and chemicals inside the plastic – have profound effects on our health. We will learn about this important topic, as well as alternatives to plastic and ideas about protecting ourselves. There will be a group discussion following the presentation to process this weighty topic with the hope that attendees will leave enlightened and empowered.

  • Jane van Dis, MD, FACOG, Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Rochester will present on the prevalence of plastics and the effects that plastics and the chemicals inside them have on our health. This talk will address key scientific findings and offer insight into ways to protect ourselves and our loved ones.
  • Jennifer Young, founder of What's Good, will discuss her journey to open a socially and environmentally responsible store selling healthy green products along with a snapshot of the alternatives to plastic that are available.
  • Emma Nelson PhD, Clinical Psychologist will guide a discussion to follow this deeply personal and universal issue.
