Circus for Seniors In-Person

Historically, the world of circus arts has embraced diversity and pushed the limits of human potential. Since then, a Social Circus movement has emerged, emphasizing the wellness benefits of practicing circus arts for people of all ages and levels of ability.

In this 45-minute program, Buffalo-based teaching artist Benjamin Berry will share his expertise of prop-based circus arts in a fully accessible environment geared towards elders and adults with limited mobility. Benjamin will guide participants through a seated creative movement class utilizing:

  • hula hoop-assisted stretches,
  • scarf juggling,
  • poi (swinging prop originating from the Maori people of New Zealand),
  • spinning plates

Participants will also be educated on the many wellness benefits of practicing circus arts, and end with a finale performance by Benjamin for inspiration!
