An Orientation to your Backyard's Night Sky In-Person

With warm, lengthening nights, and some of the best meteor showers of the year, July and August are a great time to check out the night sky, even from your backyard with no fancy equipment! Students will leave this class prepared to observe the season’s major celestial landmarks and events visible with the unaided eye – including individual stars, constellations, another galaxy, planets, the Moon, and the Perseid and Delta Aquarid meteor showers – and to appreciate the larger astronomical pageant as it unfolds throughout the year.
